THE FREE SHELF

The OCSU Food Shelf is how we are helping support OC students who are experiencing food insecurity on our Salmon Arm campus. Students are encouraged to take what they need from the shelf, but please keep in mind the needs of others using the shelf as well.

LUNCH ONCE A MONTH

Once each month, up to 10 students can sign up to receive a $10 gift card to Tim Hortons.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Second Harvest

Second Harvest Food Bank is a food program that embodies the principle of "those who have more than they need sharing with those who have less." Food is provided from the four main food groups and we have a special milk program for families with children. This program is run exclusively by volunteers and generous community donors.

Shuswap Family Center*

(*Not free, but low cost)

The Good Food Box is a volunteer non-profit, produce buying cooperative for those people who are finding it difficult to stretch their food dollars to include fresh fruits and vegetables. Anyone can purchase a Good Food Box.

Pay $15.00 by the second Thursday of the month and pick up your box the following Thursday.

DONATING TO THE FREE SHELF

Monetary Donations

Donate through OC Foundation (tax receipt given)

OC Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to supporting students in a variety of ways, and we are thankful that they have chosen to support the Pantry as well. Donations made through OC Foundation may be distributed to food security programs on other campuses (like the OCSU Harbour in Penticton), so this is a great option for anyone who wants to support students across campuses. Donations may be made online and are tax receipt eligible.
