Food Security

Our Mission

OCSU believes in supporting food security for all students. To that end we have established services on each campus we represent, and support existing services where applicable.

Research has consistently shown that between 30-40% of post secondary students face food insecurity. This can lead to academic struggles, delayed graduation, and dropping out completely in extreme cases due to unsustainable costs of living. We get it, it's rough out there! OCSU offers food security options at each of our campuses.

Please contact the Vernon Students’ Association (VSAOC) for food security services in Vernon.

Emergency Funding

We know that food security is just one piece of a very complex puzzle. In addition to accessing our food security resources, students can apply to the Okanagan College Student Emergency Fund for short term financial help. See “Other Funding“ under the Okanagan College Financial Aid and Awards webpage for details.
